IWC Portugieser 42mm Development Economist Automatic Steel Watch

The IWC Portugieser 42mm Development Economist is the Swiss luxury watch for those who run randomised controlled trials in rural villages to determine which interventions actually reduce poverty, as opposed to which interventions feel like they should reduce poverty — field development economists, poverty alleviation RCT directors, and those of evidence-based discipline who understand that the reason the randomised controlled trial was such a revolutionary methodological contribution to development economics is that it replaced the most common source of error in the field: the assumption that because an intervention is well-intentioned and logically coherent, it must be working, when in fact the history of development is full of programmes that were well-intentioned, logically coherent, and entirely ineffective, and that the only way to know the difference is to measure outcomes rigorously against a control group that did not receive the intervention. Its 42mm stainless steel case delivers the Portugieser's commanding classical authority with field-research, evidence-based confidence, and the Swiss automatic movement executing with the poverty-cycle-spanning, field-trial-outlasting mechanical reliability that measuring what actually works for the world's poorest people eventually demands.
